Happy Birthday to a Leafs Fan... at Heart

What a blast we had at the West Edmonton Mall this past weekend! A waterpark, amusement park, ice rink, underground aquarium, 3 floors of shopping... this place has it all! Here are just a couple pics of some of the highlights:

This pink water slide is called "The Cyclone". You are locked in a capsule, it counts down from 3, the platform you are standing gives way and down the shoot you go! It's insane and definitely took my breath away!

There was a cool sea lion presentation and we got to get up close and personal with them!

Just yesterday, our nephew Jude celebrated his 12th birthday! Each year it becomes quite the challenge to think of a unique design for my nephews' birthday cards. Because Jude is into hockey, I thought I'd make a fun-folded card related to this sport. I found an awesome example on this blog of a hockey jersey and thought I'd CASE it and make one tailored to Jude's favourite hockey team - the Calgary Flames. Here's how it turned out:

I simply started with a regular A2 size card (5.5" x 4.25"). I cut two wide strips of cardstock for the sleeves and stuck them between the card front and back. Then, I glued the edges (except for the top) of the card base to create a pocket. I cut a V-neck on the top of the card and slipped a piece of white cardstock inside. I simply 'decorated' the jersey, matching the colours of an actual Calgary Flames jersey. The logo was found on google images, cut out, and popped up on the card front.

On the inside I punched out a red heart, cut out a Toronto Maple Leafs logo...

And wrote the following: "Happy Birthday to a Leaf's fan... at heart"

Since my husband and I are big TML fans, we always bug him about it and thought it would be quite funny to add this to his birthday card (my hubby's idea!).

Now that I'm sharing this card with you, there's one thing I just thought of that I wish I had added to it... The # 12 (for his 12th birthday) on the back of the jersey would have completed it!

Thanks for stopping by! Come back tomorrow for a new KCRR challenge!

Birthday Wishes for Mo!

Today, birthday wishes go out to my goofy, sweet, handsome nephew, Moses!

This is a younger picture of Moses - doesn't he have the sweetest smile?!
He has grown up quite a bit since this picture was taken. I look forward to seeing him again this Christmas!

Because he loves cars and trucks so much, I thought it would be fun to make him a card with a race car on it!

I fussy-cut the race car and popped it up using dimensionals. I love how the red polka dot designer paper brightens up the card and makes the sentiment and race car stand out.

Here's wishing Moses the best day!

Little Boy Overalls

Happy Monday!

I feel rejuvenated after a productive, yet relaxing weekend! Here's hoping this week flies by as next weekend we are on the road again for one last road trip before summer ends :)

A couple weeks ago, one of our nephews, Micah, celebrated his 1st birthday! He is such a cutie and is growing up so fast!

All smiles! :) Unfortunately, I haven't met this little guy yet :( But, I'm looking forward to seeing him at Christmas!

I thought I'd make a fun-folded card for his birthday. I saw this awesome card on Stampin Pretty's blog and wanted to CASE it. Her simple instructions made it so easy to make and it looks super cute in the end!

I added cute little jumping frogs to the overalls, as well as a sentiment "wish big" and a #1 that is cut free-hand. The pockets were created from a full circle cut in half. For some added detail I used a white gel pen to create stitching on the outer edges of the overalls and on the pockets.

How cute is that?!

Thanks for stopping by!

Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Moving Forward, Short & Sweet
Paper: Night of Navy, Gumball Green, Whisper White, Bashful Blue
Ink: Night of Navy, Gumball Green, White Gel pen
Tools: Word Window punch, 1-3/8" Circle punch
Accessories: Rhinestones

Happy Birthday to a Hockey Fan!

Today is BC's first ever Family Day holiday! Unfortunately, my husband has to work today... And I don't really have any family around to spend the day with. So, for me it's not much of a family day, but more of a relaxing, catch-up day. I plan to cross some things off my to-do list and skype with my parents at some point :)

Not only is it Family Day, but it's also a special birthday! My nephew, Jude, turns 11 today!Jude is a smart, fun and active kid! He always has a smile on his face :)

One of his favourite things is hockey. He loves watching the NHL and he loves to play hockey, so I designed and created a card that I thought would be perfect for him!

The card front itself is a hockey arena. I found the two logos for Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs online, printed them and cut them out. The hockey sticks are made from cutting pieces of cardstock and glueing them together (this was the most tedious part!). The sentiment "happy birthday" is stamped, punched out, and popped up using dimensionals. I embellished it with two brads.

Here's wishing Jude a very Happy Birthday!
