Fresh & Bold: A Flowery Birthday Card

I'm jumping right into my first 2017 entry for card challenges with a fresh and bold birthday card!
Three card challenges inspired me to make this card.

I love using card sketches and Mojo Monday never disappoints! This week's sketch is a simple yet layered sketch:

The colours I used for this card were inspired by the inspiration photo challenge over at The Card Concept. This photo is clean & fresh with a pop of bright pink and orange.

And finally, Paper Players has a Clean-and-Simple challenge this week with a twist: Flowers. I love using flowers on my cards. My latest favourite is the Botanical Builder framelits from Stampin Up. There are multiple flowers in this set, with options to be creative and layer the flowers.

Now to finally show you the end result in combining all three of these challenges...

I added a little texture in the background, as well as a strip of striped designer paper in bright pink. A few of the flowers are popped up to give the card some dimension. Rhinestones are added in the center of each flower for some bling!

A Tri-Fold Owl Birthday Card

A couple weeks ago, I posted a fun owl birthday card that I made for my niece (click here to see original post). My initial inspiration came from this adorable card. I loved it so much that I made a second card, this time using the tri-fold. I stuck with the same colour combo, covering each panel with patterned designer paper and randomly placing the punch art owls throughout the card.

So fun, right? This card is sure to make anyone smile on their birthday!

I am entering this clean and layered card in The Card Concept challenge this week:

KCRR #36 - A Vintage Anniversary Card

I've had a pretty productive week so far! Organizing my craft room has been top on my to-do list lately and I'm close to checking it off as being complete! I hope to share some of the organization tips I used within the next week, so stay tuned!

Let's introduce a new KCRR challenge!

Strawberry Slush
Vintage Style
Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set

We decided to keep choosing three items (instead of two). I think it's fun and a tad more challenging!

There are two other challenges I wanted to play along with. The first is a card sketch from a new challenge blog that I came across just recently. I absolutely love their card sketches and couldn't wait to play along! Cardabilities, it's called (check them out!). Here's the sketch this week:

And The Card Concept has a theme this week:

I'm going with a 'shabby chic and vintage' style for my card design and using my Stampin Up colour coach, I chose Rich Razzleberry and Crumb Cake to go with Strawberry Slush. I think these colours are fabulous together!

I layered cardstock to make up the card front and distressed and sponged the edges. Though hard to see, I stamped lines on the Crumb Cake cardstock. Strawberry Slush ruffled ribbon wraps around it. The fabric flowers are one of my favourite embellishments to use and I think they work perfectly in this card design. I sponged each flower with Rich Razzleberry ink and added pearls to embellish them. Here's a closer look:

Thanks for stopping by! Feel free to play along with our KCRR challenge! (just post a link to your blog post in the comments below)

Come back tomorrow for a new inspirational photo challenge!

You Are Loved

I've been feeling pretty sluggish these days... I'm thinking it's the cold winter days that are getting me down (It has been around -30 deg C the past couple mornings! brrrr...). I almost didn't want to step out into the cold again last night to go to my weekly Zumba class, but I'm so glad I did! I feel so energized and ready to start another work day. And spending a little time at my crafting table always seems to perk me up!

Today I'm playing along with a few challenges :)

First and foremost, Karly and I introduce a new KCRR challenge!

You Are Loved Stamp Set
Strawberry Slush
Smokey Slate

Can you believe these were randomly picked? What a perfect combo and just in time for Valentine's Day :)

Mojo Monday has a fabulous sketch this week and I just had to play along! It also happens to be contest week!

And the last challenge I wanted to play along with is The Card Concept. Their challenge this week is "Monochromatic Pinks".

Clean and Layered is probably one of my favourite styles for cardmaking. I love lots of layers, but also keeping it clean and fresh looking. So I chose this style for my card and was inspired by the flowers in the picture to use different shades of pink.

All these challenges tie together so well! Here's how my card turned out:

I used layers of Basic Gray, Pink Pirouette, Smokey Slate cardstock and Strawberry Slush polka dot DSP to make up the card front. The "Love" sentiment and a couple of the punched out hearts are popped up to give the card some dimension. I added a few rhinestones to embellish the card. I love how it turned out!

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to hop on over to Karly's Creations to see how she used these three elements in her card!
