KCRR #42: Thoughts & Prayers

We're back with a new KCRR challenge!

Ruffled Ribbon
Modern Label punch
Thoughts & Prayers stamp set

Great combination! I don't use the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set often, so I'm glad it was one of the options this week. I chose to combine this challenge with a sketch from Fusion Card Challenge.

Here's how it all came together:

A sympathy card always needs some soft & subtle colours, so I chose to use Pool Party, So Saffron and Soft Suede. My inspiration for this colour combo came from the beautiful designer paper that covers the card front. I distressed and sponged the edges of each piece of cardstock and DSP to soften the look. The flower vine image was stamped in Soft Suede and stamped again without re-inking to create a faded image. I decided to use the modern label punch in a unique way, creating a banner along the bottom half of the card. Pool Party ruffled ribbon and small pearls embellish the card.

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to check out Karly's Creations to see how Karly used these three elements in her card creation.

Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Thoughts & Prayers
Paper: Pool Party, Soft Suede, So Saffron, Very Vanilla, Attic Boutique DSP
Ink: Soft Suede
Tools: Large Oval punch, Designer Frames embossing folder, Modern Label punch, Beautiful Wings sizzlit die
Accessories: Pool Party ruffled ribbon, pearls (Michael's)

Retro Sketches #60 and Fab Friday #16 {Sending Love & Sympathy}

I've been patiently waiting for this day to come! Today, Stampin Up demonstrators get to have an early peek at the new Stampin Up annual catalogue!!  So excited to see what Stampin Up has come up with this year!

Today's card features a great layout based on the Retro Sketches sketch and a nice soft colour combo from Fab Friday.

I thought this colour combo would be perfect for a sympathy card. Summer Startfruit is still growing on me, but I love it with these colours! Here's how my card turned out:

To add some detail I embossed the piece of Crumb Cake cardstock with the square lattice pattern. The roses are sponged with Calypso Coral ink and instead of the traditional green leaves, I decided to stick with the colour combo and used Summer Starfruit instead - I like how it turned out! The Calypso Coral bakers twine is the perfect embellishment to complete the card.

Thanks for stopping by!

In Memory Of...

Happy Easter!

Today is a day to be joyful and a day to mourn. I think of Kevin's Oma. It will be a difficult day for his family, but I'm so glad they can all be together to celebrate her life. And as Kevin's brother said, it is fitting that we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord this weekend. We can be comforted to know that Oma is now with her husband, and with her Heavenly Father.

Today's post is a sympathy card for Kevin's parents. I followed the Deconstructed Sketch this week. It has potential for lots of layers! I also picked the colour combo from The Play Date Cafe, but added one more colour as I had a hard time incorporating just 3 colours in this sketch.

This is a nice soft and subtle colour combo - perfect for a sympathy card. I used Perfect Plum, So Saffron and Very Vanilla. I saw light green in the inspirational photo, so I decided to add Certainly Celery as the 4th colour. I added strips of designer paper for the top half and embellished the bottom half with Certainly Celery ribbon. The sentiment is stamped in Elegant Eggplant within an oval embossed frame. Stamped flowers and leaves border the frame.

Thanks for visiting. Have a blessed Easter!

PP131 {Sending Sympathy and Prayers}

It's been a great weekend! Unfortunately, the weather was kind of gloomy most of the weekend, so I didn't get out much. But, I did get caught up on house cleaning, laundry, and greeting card orders! I also had some great chats with family members (including a skype call with my dear sister, Esther). Hoping I have the motivation to get caught up at work this week also!

The Paper Players has a theme challenge this week:

A handmade card is sometimes the best way to show your love and support to someone who has lost a loved one.

For my card I chose an older Mojo Monday sketch. I love the layers in this layout! I struggled a bit with the colour combo in this card, but it came together in the end.

I chose the beautiful flowered designer paper from the Comfort Cafe collection and picked out my colours based on that paper. So Saffron is the colour of the card base and I chose Soft Suede for the card front. The Pool Party cardstock is embossed with Perfect Polka Dots and a strip of Pool Party designer paper and a scallop border in Night of Navy is layered on top. I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede and punched it out using the Curly Label punch. The card needed a little something extra, so I added the leaves and small pearls to complete it.

Card Ingredients:

Stamps: Petite Pairs
Paper: So Saffron, Soft Suede, Pool Party, Very Vanilla, Night of Navy, Comfort Cafe DSP
Ink: Soft Suede
Tools: Curly Label punch, Scallop Border punch, Leaves sizzlit die, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder
Accessories: Pearls (Michaels)
