Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #16 -- A Birthday Card for a Boy

What a great weekend it was! The weather was just perfect! I spent a LOT of time in the sun (maybe a bit too much, as I now look like a tomato :P).  My hubby and I went on quite a few walks with our dog and I sat in one of those gravity lounge chairs in our backyard for most of the afternoon yesterday and Saturday. It was fabulous!
I also managed to clean up our apartment Saturday morning (it has been neglected for far too long!). My craft area is finally clean! I'm now at the point of organizing my supplies. Paper is my biggest issue -- I have too much and so little space to put it all! I'm working on organizing it by Stampin Up colour. Once I'm finished I will share with you!

A friend has asked me to make birthday cards for kids. I had a look through the challenges this week and decided to use the new Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge for my card today.

It's a nice and simple layout. I layered the card front with cardstock and designer paper in Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, and Pumpkin Pie -- perfect colours for a boy's birthday card!

I stamped a car image, fussy-cut it, and popped it up using dimensionals. I also popped up the word "beep!". I always find it somewhat challenging to make cards for boys, or men in general, but I think this card turned out quite well - it is so cute for a little boy!

Thanks for looking!

Card Ingredients:

Paper: Night of Navy, Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, Regals DSP, Polka Dot Parade DSP

Try Stampin' Challenge #114 {An Elegant Wedding Card}

I had a busy evening of crafting last night! Finished off some gift tags, made a few masculine cards and a couple wedding cards. I'm well on my way to having lots of variety for the upcoming craft fair this Sunday! Although, I must say... my craft room is a mess! Scraps of paper everywhere! I have one little spot on my desk, just room enough to make a single card. Can't wait to clean and organize everything! Once all this craft fair craziness is done, I plan on doing a series of blog posts on how I organize my craft room - stay tuned!

For today's card, as I'm building up my stock of wedding cards, I decided to follow the new sketch by Try Stampin' on Tuesday.

I just got a new wedding stamp set with my last Stampin Up order called "Love and Laughter" It's so elegant and fun! I decided to use the 3-tier cake stamp as the central image in my card. I used the colour combo of Baja Breeze and Very Vanilla for a softer look - perfect for a wedding card! Here's how it turned out:

I love the burlap ribbon I got from Close to My Heart. It's perfect for cards just like this one. I decided to overlap two different types of ribbon and I love the look! I added little punched out flowers on the cake with pearls in the centers and embellished the card with ivory roses -- this has become an essential embellishment on my cards lately!

Mother's Day Geraniums

Before I show you my card today, I want to introduce you to my sister's blog -- An Adventure Called Teaching. It's her first year of teaching and she writes about her experiences as a Grade 2 teacher and an Art teacher. She has lots of creative ideas and makes an excellent teacher, in my opinion :) Check out her latest post on dinosaurs!

I am entering the Try Stampin' On Tuesday sketch challenge today. Here's the sketch:

It has some great layers! I decided to make another Mother's Day card. Remember seeing those geraniums before? A few weeks ago, I made a housewarming card with a pot of geraniums (click here to see the original post). I've been meaning to put them on a Mother's Day card and thought this sketch would be perfect. Here's my card:

I embossed a stitched design on the card front, added layers of designer paper and cardstock and made the pot of geraniums as the central focus. The flower pot is cut free hand, the leaves are from the Bird Builder punch, and the geraniums are created using one of the itty bitty punches. Even though it's got some layers, I think it is a nice clean and simple card.

Thanks for stopping by!
