Inspired By... Multicolour Seashells!

Today we introduce a new inspirational photo challenge!

It was Karly's pick this week and she chose a summery photo from David's Tea. I love the multicolour seashells on this bubble teapot and teacups! I decided to use these colours, as well as an ocean/beachy theme to create a spring/summer birthday card! 

I was inspired by the latest Viva la Verve sketch challenge:

This layout is somewhat similar to the card I shared with you on yesterday's post, but with just a few more layers. I started with a Sahara Sand card base and added layers of embossed cardstock, designer paper, and stamped images. "By the Tide" stamp set is one of my favourites, as I love the beach, and I thought it was a great representation of the inspirational photo.

A Bold & Cheery Birthday Card

I wanted to combine this challenge with a sketch challenge over at Cardabilities, as well as a colour combo at Dynamic Duos. 

I was so happy to see that Rose Red was one of the colour options at Dynamic Duos this week! When we first randomly chose the three elements for this week's KCRR challenge, I wasn't quite sure what colours I would use with Rose Red. But, Dynamic Duos made it easy for me! I also love the layers in the Cardabilities sketch this week!. So combining all three challenges, here's the end result:

A bold & cheery birthday card! I love the patterns of the DSP and the texture of the fancy fan in this card! The stitched satin ribbon blends so well with the patterns. The flower is created from the Floral Fusion sizzlits die from Stampin Up. This recently came in with my last order and I'm so glad I decided to get it! It adds that extra special touch to this card, with a pearl in the center of the flower.

Mojo Mixed With Modern

Friday is finally here! Feels like this week has dragged on, however I did get quite a bit accomplished! There are no longer messy piles of paperwork on my desk at work and I've got a good head start on my papercraft stock! I hope to have a productive weekend ahead as well!

Time for a new inspirational challenge! 

It was my pick this week and I found a modern inspirational photo on Pinterest.

Aren't these colours fun together? I can't say I would decorate my own living room like this, but it's great as inspiration! I decided to pull a few different ideas from the photo: the pattern on the rug, the colours (Gumball Green, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White), and the vases. I used the Mojo Monday sketch as a guide.

 

 

I love this layout! I first embossed the card front with the Fancy Fan embossing folder. I think it resembles the pattern in the photo quite well. The vases are created by using the Ornament punch and the Blossom Builder punch - just snip off the edges of the flower petals and you have a vase! Genius! I used the leaves from the Bird Builder punch and added a small flower button and rhinestones to embellish the card.

Loads of Love

Last night was a busy night... Did some grocery shopping, cooked a delicious tuna casserole for dinner, went off to Zumba fitness and of course, fit in some papercrafting! It was the first Zumba class of the year and it felt so good to be back at it again! It was a different routine, so I may have been fumbling around trying to follow along, but after a couple more classes, I think I'll have the moves down :) I've been going to Zumba for the past year and a half and I absolutely love it! While I may not be very coordinated and don't have the greatest dance moves, Zumba gives me a great workout, makes me feel energized... and it's fun! Afterwards, it was nice to wind down and spend some quality time with my crafting supplies :)

Freshly Made Sketches came with out a nice clean and simple sketch this week. I'm starting to get used to these clean and simple designs and tried my best to keep my card clean and simple for this challenge. Here's the sketch:

I found this sketch to be very versatile! Just about any image can be used in place of the butterfly. I almost had a hard time making a choice between a few stamp sets! But I decided to pull out a retired stamp set that I hadn't used in awhile - Loads of Love! This stamp set (along with Loads of Love Accessories) is so fun! There are so many different occasions you could use it for. I chose to make another Valentine's card:

I love the pile of hearts in the back of the pick-up! I used a blender pen to colour in the truck and hearts. It's a great technique of making it look somewhat like watercolour. I used More Amore DSP for the card front and embossed a strip of Basic Gray cardstock with the Fancy Fan embossing folder (one of my new favourites!) The scallop edge border gives the card a little bit of detail. I stamped "Loads of Love" on a tag shape and added Primrose Petals stitched satin ribbon to embellish it.

Love You Much

Happy Friday!

I was so excited yesterday evening when I came home to a box of Stampin Up goodies sitting on my doorstep! This was the order I was waiting anxiously for. I couldn't wait to use the brand new More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper from the new Spring Mini Catalogue!  

I looked up the Deconstructed Sketch that just came out that morning and starting planning out my card. This is the sketch of the week:

In looking at this sketch, I knew just how to incorporate the new designer paper. Here is my version of the sketch:

  

I love the colour combo of Pool Party and Rose Red. I grabbed a retired stamp set called "Love You Much" and used the large sentiment in the set as the main focus of the card. I deviated from the sketch a little by leaving out the ribbon and instead embellished it with the Pool Party buttons and bakers twine.
