Simon Says... Choose a Sketch!

Good morning!
It's chilly this morning! A brisk -10 deg C. And a chance of a few more centimetres of snow tonight. Ugh. I know I say this a lot, but it definitely does not feel like spring is on it's way.  Need to get through this last bit of winter! At least we aren't the only ones experiencing a longer winter than what they predicted. And there's a long weekend in sight! Gotta look for the silver lining :)

For today's card I'm playing along with two challenges: Simon Says Stamp and Play Date Cafe. This is my first time participating in both of these challenge blogs and I look forward to playing along more often in the future!

Simon says... choose a sketch! I picked this one:

I needed a colour combo to get me started. I came across the Play Date Cafe and they have colour splash challenge this week - black and white with a splash of coral.

At first, I wasn't too sure about this colour combo. I find it hard to use black in my cards (except for stamping sentiments and some images). But I really like the splash of coral. Calypso Coral from the Stampin Up's soon-to-be-retired In-Colours is slowly becoming one of my favourites! Here's how I tied in these colours with the sketch above:

I like how it turned out! The upsy daisy flowers are a perfect silhouette against the bright coral. I added a black button and bakers twine to embellish the card. Since this is a 5" x 5" square card, I had to create an envelope for it, so I made it a matching one with Calypso Coral polka dot designer paper.

Thanks for stopping by!
